Located in the centre
of the village of Groombridge in delightful Wealden countryside, straddling the
border of East Sussex and West Kent,

5 miles equidistant
from Royal Tunbridge Wells and Crowborough, the Groombridge Village Hall
provides one of the most modern and flexible village halls

 in this part of
South-East England.

The village hall was
substantially enlarged in 2000 thanks to tremendous support and contributions
from local residents, the National Lottery
Charities Board, Local Authorities and other trusts and organisations.

Includes a full special
needs WC and baby-changing facilities. Access throughout is friendly
to the wheelchair-bound and less mobile, with level areas, double
doors, and stairs only to the stage. Both the Main Hall and the New Hall
are fitted with Induction Loop Systems

There are three
main venues
which can be hired individually or in any combination,  all in superb order.

Equipped with good
comfortable seating and tabling for between 50 and 144 per venue, or over
200 in total.

Double doors lead
direct to the secure courtyard. This area serves as the Preschool
children’s play area during term-time mornings,

and available for
outside use such as B B Q’s, Al-Fresco dining or
children’s parties.

Opening the chair store
doors wide reveals a wide-open thoroughfare from the New hall to the Main
hall, thus creating a superbly linked venue for dining and dancing
combinations (yet when closed, the double chair store doors provide
near-perfect sound insulation between the two halls).

Each venue can be
booked independently or in any combination

The facilities provide
ultimate flexibility for small and large events – from meetings of a dozen
people or less; to dances, discos and private parties where up to 100 or
more can be accommodated in comfort.  The total capacity is over 200
hundred when the whole building is used for craft sales, bazaars,

jumble
sales, fund-raising coffee mornings and similar events.

The accommodation
permits concurrent hires, and internal and external access ensures
that hirer’s in one venue need not be interrupted or

 inconvenienced by
those hiring another venue.

The building has a full
Premises Licence from Wealden District Council.

There are 30 off-street
car parking spaces including 2 disabled parking bays.

The village hall is
host to many local community groups which meet regularly including Tiny Tots,
Preschool, Scouts & Guiding groups; Yoga, Pilates;

Various dance classes
for all ages; Dramatic, Horticultural, History Societies; Bridge, and
Luncheon Clubs; Art,

Women’s Institute,
Parish Council, and many other activities.

The whole building has
access to Fibre Broadband via WiFi – code available
on request

The Licensing Act 2003

This act came into force on 24th November
2005.  Its main ramifications upon users relate to the provision of
alcohol.  ANY event where it is intended to provide
alcohol whether by sale or not, including ‘free’, ‘gifted’ or ‘bring-your-own’
provision and even where consumption is incidental to the main purpose of the
event, MUST be notified to the booking secretary preferably at
the time of making the booking but in any case, at least 3 weeks before the
date of the event to ensure the provisions of the 2003 Licensing Act are
met.

Notes

Under the act most circumstances will be routinely dealt with by
the booking secretary and our Designated Premises Supervisor (DPS).  All
events at which alcohol will be sold will be subject to an additional charge,
in lieu of the now superseded Occasional Permissions Magistrates licence, now
known as a Temporary Events notice (TEN).  In the event, there is no DPS
available hirers need to obtain a TEN from Wealden District Council and pass a
copy to booking secretary.
